There’s an excellent Bush Tucker Garden at the rear of Federal Community Children’s Centre in Federal, down the road.

Having a native edible garden was the top of my list when planning my garden, and I had no idea there was one so near by at first.

Conceived by a local mum, Rachel Heaton, it’s a fantastic educational opportunity for everybody. It’s always open – you can wander through without any bookings at any time.  The garden has a wandering path with native plants clearly labelled with the origin, appearance, how the fruit can be eaten, and other uses of the plant, such as medicinal benefits or practical uses such as making fishing lines or weaving baskets.

Inspirational and educational. Worth a visit (and then pop across the road to the incredible Japanese cafe, Doma).
